Seeking Nominations for the Second Annual Achievement Awards

PURPOSE

New England Women in Energy and the Environment (NEWIEE) is accepting nominations for its Second Annual Achievement Awards. The awards are to recognize and celebrate the accomplishment of women leaders in the fields of energy, environment, and the intersection of the two. Each year, the NEWIEE Achievement Awards will honor three women practitioners who have achieved professional excellence within their area of specialty and have actively paved the way to success for other women in similar or related professional areas. These women demonstrate excellence in a variety of professional settings, including leadership on the national, regional, or local level. The awards will be presented at the NEWIEE Annual Awards’ Evening in Boston sometime in the Spring.

CRITERIA

Nominees do not need to possess all of the following criteria to qualify, however, panel judges will evaluate nominees based on these criteria:

  • Achieved professional excellence in her field
  • Demonstrated professional leadership in her area of expertise
  • Shown exceptional ability to influence important public policy decisions
  • Shown thought leadership in new ideas such as the development of new concepts that have helped solve certain problems
  • Provided guidance to other women pursuing careers in related professional areas
  • Professionally practicing or involved in one of the following six states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

PROCEDURES

  1. Nomination Form – Complete and submit the nomination form (see below) via email to Debra Paolo at debra.paolo@brattle.com, include nominator and nominees’ names in the subject line.
  2. Nominee’s Resumé – Include the nominee’s resume or biography, describing her background, leadership, and contribution.
  3. (Optional) Articles and Letters – Nomination can include up to 5 articles written by or about the candidate and no more than 2 letters of support from individuals or organizations.
  4. The nomination form and supporting materials are the sole basis for nomination. Materials will not be returned.
  5. Current NEWIEE board members are not eligible for the Award for the duration of their terms.
  6. Nomination forms and all supporting materials must be received by 5 PM on March 2, 2012.
  7. NEWIEE will select award recipients by April 6, 2012.
