Edna M. Karanian, an energy industry professional since 1982, is currently Director of Gas Supply for Northeast Utilities System. In addition to day-to-day supply operations Ms. Karanian leads the strategy, supply planning & acquisition and portfolio management for NSTAR and Yankee Gas. Prior to Northeast Utilities, Ms. Karanian was employed by Connecticut Natural Gas Corporation for 19 years where she was Vice President – Energy Services and Regulatory Affairs including responsibility for Gas Supply, Rates, Demand and Revenue Planning, Regulatory, Gas Control, LNG and Retail Choice for both Connecticut Natural and Southern Connecticut Gas Company.
Ms. Karanian has also consulted on portfolio management and provided extensive expert testimony on natural gas issues before regulatory agencies and the state legislature on capacity planning, gas procurement, rates, retail choice and related energy policy issues. Edna has a B.A. in Economics and an M.S. in Management. She is a member of various professional energy associations. She has also served on the Advisory Board to the Blind – Manufacturing Division, the Urban League Board of Greater Hartford, the Connecticut Energy Advisory Board, The Connecticut Resource Recovery Authority Board and is currently serving on the board of the Connecticut Power and Energy Society, Girl Scouts of Connecticut (Board member and Chair of the Board Development Committee), member NU Diversity Council, and the member of the NEWIEE Advisory Board. Edna resides with her husband and their two children in Wethersfield, Connecticut.
